THE VIRGINIA CARIBBEAN-AMERICAN CULTURAL ASSOCIATION 6th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CARIBBEAN FESTIVAL “CARIBFEST” AT TOWN POINT PARK, NORFOLK VA ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 2011

Norfolk comes alive with the sights and sounds of the Caribbean experience CaribFest!  This year’s theme, “Celebrate the Spectacle…a Caribbean Explosion!”

International recording artists like the legendary, 10-time Grammy nominee THIRD WORLD Reggae band will electrify the diverse audience with high-energy tunes that will move the crowd to dance under the stars. Local and regional Caribbean acts take the stage and unite festival-goers with the infectious, pulsating tropical rhythmic sounds of REGGAE, CALYPSO and SOCA and yes, the sweet beat of the STEELPAN music.  This is a day of tropical rhythm, cuisine, carnival and culture as only the Caribbean can offer!

CaribFest is no ordinary festival!  It is a vibrant celebration of Caribbean culture.  One of its main highlights is the colorful PARADE including dancers on stilts, elaborate costumes and folklore characters.  Live authentic Caribbean performances continue throughout the day on the Main Festival Stage.  Visitors will get an opportunity to celebrate, learn, and savor Caribbean hospitality, culture, heritage and mouthwatering Caribbean food and much more. …truly something for everyone!

Virginia Caribbean American Cultural Association

The Virginia Caribbean-American Cultural Association Inc. (VCACA), is a community-based, visual and performing cultural arts, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are committed to educating and developing our communities, particularly our youth, through effective outreach programs that broaden cultural experiences, awareness and enrichment of people of all ethnicities and origins. We recognize that exposure to higher education, the performing arts, and youth development tools, helps develop life-long learners who more readily adapt to and succeed in a rapidly changing environment.

We offer a variety of programs that serve low-income community members of every age and background in the Virginia Tidewater area. Our primary mission is to bridge the literacy gap both educationally and culturally, and support other social programs, such as Meals-on-Wheels, the Boys and Girls Club, Int’l Children's Festival, Old Dominion University for the boys of Sudan, and provide school supplies to children of Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach and Suffolk areas.

It’s our belief that if we all come together in unity, we can achieve anything….and it’s the reason for our Motto: “Together We Achieve"
